Eight Riders Representing Four Countries Going to Normandy

Neue Schule Salutes an International Roster of Ambassadors Selected to Compete at 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

Riverhead, NY (August 20, 2014) “You could say we are ‘a bit’ excited to have such great representation of riders, across so many disciplines, competing at the World Equestrian Games this year,” said Mette Larsen, of Metlar Performance Saddlery in Riverhead, NY and Neue Schule Bits US and Canadian distributor.

The maker of the internationally acclaimed ergonomic bits boasts some of the top riders in the world as Neue Schule Ambassdors and now, eight of those riders, representing four countries over two continents, have been selected to compete at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG), August 23-September 7, in Caen, France. With the exceptional design and proven communication of Neue Schule bits to help them on their way, each stands ready to storm Normandy’s equestrian shores.

Leading the Neue Schule Ambassadorial contingent are five dressage riders: Veteran U.S. Olympian Steffen Peters, American wunderkind Laura Graves, Canadians David Marcus and Karen Pavicic, and Danish rider Mikala Münter Gundersen.

Now in San Diego, CA, German-born Peters rode Legolas 92 to a Grand Prix division sweep at this year’s Festival of Champions, clinching (76.036%) his third National Championship before delivering a one-two punch in the Small Tour with Reserve and National titles in Intermediare-I on mares Apassionata and Rosamunde. Honing their talents in Europe all summer, Graves and Verdades stood Aachen on its ear as its highest-placing American combination before assuring they were no fluke with further fine performances at Festival of Champions, thus earning their spot alongside Peters. Graves was first introduced to Neue Schule Bits by US Olympic Bronze Medalist and USEF Developing Coach, Debbie McDonald.

2007 Pan American Games Canadian team Silver medalist and 2014 Canadian Dressage Athlete grant recipient, Karen Pavicic, of Surrey, BC, is a longtime user of Neue Schule bits and plans to continue riding in them when she takes Don Daiquiri, her top three partner in the Achletein (Austria) CDI4* Grand Prix, into WEG’s historic stadium. Joining her is Neue Scheule Ambassador and Canadian Dressage squadmate, David Marcus, of Campbellville, ON, riding Chrevi’s Capital. Coincidentally, Marcus scored a personal best to finish second to Neue Schule Ambassador Peters in the Grand Prix August 9 at CDI3* Verden, Germany. Gundersen, who is based in Wellington, FL, is riding My Lady, co-owned with Janne H. Rumbough; since their international career began in January 2012 they have started 43 times, with victories on both sides of the Atlantic and the distinction of riding for Denmark in World Cup Final and Nations Cup competition. American eventers and Neue Schule Ambassadors, Buck Davidson and Kim Severson, are also more than “a bit” ready to ride at WEG:

One of the top-ranked riders in US since 2009 and the 2012 US Olympic Alternate, Davidson, of Ocala, FL, was appointed to the US squad with Ballynoe Castle RM, who he rode to third at the Rolex Kentucky 4*, and as an Alternate aboard Park Trader. 2002 WEG Team Gold medalist, Kim Severson of Charlottesville, VA, was also named to WEG teams in 2010 and 2004, and Short Listed for the 2008 Olympics. The four-time (2001, 2002, 2004, 2005) US Eventing Association Lady Rider of the Year will ride her own Fernhill Fearless.

Also jumping to the fore for Neue Schule will be show jumping star and dual citizen,Danielle Goldstein, who qualified to compete for Israel. Goldstein, who prefers the Neue Schule Verbindend snaffle and Neue Schule Waterford Universal, comes to France off a string of top 10 finishes in Canada at Spruce Meadows and Thunderbird Horsepark.

Larsen and Neue Schule are proud to sponsor this international roster. “When riders and horses communicate effectively” Larsen said, “the results speak for themselves. Neue Schule offers a range of high performance, comfortable bits that are ergonomically designed, using the latest in engineering and computer aided design (CAD) technologies and incorporating a unique metal alloy with an increased conductivity, promoting acceptance and salivation.”

Neue Schule makes it easier for all riders to select the perfect bit by including informational tags on each product. These product tags act as a guide to help select which bits offer a better platform for the rider-horse connection, and help address and solve potential problems each individual horse may be experiencing.

FEI Champion Mette Larsen Featured In The Scale of Training in Action DVD With Christoph Hess and Linda Parelli

Pagosa Springs, Co (Aug 12,2014) – While Metlar Premium Performance Saddlery is already setting the standard for compassion, design, and function in the equine industry, the founder, Mette Larsen, and her horse Ulivi recently set the standard for correct upper level training as one of four featured riders on The Scale of Training in Action DVD.  Recently produced and released by natural horsemanship’s Linda Parelli and acclaimed dressage trainer and judge Christoph Hess, the training tool features Hess coaching riders of different levels while demonstrating how the scale of training can be applied to improve overall performance.

Hess works with four riders: one new to dressage, one seasoned eventer with a young horse, Linda Parelli on her horse Hot Jazz, and one upper level pair.  Larsen and Ulivi were selected to represent the upper levels, as they have a successful competition history in competition including finishing last year as the USDF KWPN Adult Amateur Intermediaire-I Champions for the country. “Christoph is so positive in his approach and he is for the horse.  He encourages forward riding with relaxation,” said Larsen, “Working with Linda and Pat (Parelli) has given me more tools to create “relationships” with all my horses. And the synergy between the true interpretation of the training scale and the goals of the Parelli program to achieve a relaxed and responsive horse became increasingly evident throughout the session with Christoph”, added Larsen.

Larsen is the president and founder of Metlar Premium Performance Saddlery, which offers equestrian products specifically designed to enhance the riding experience for both horse and rider. Metlar is the North American distributor of Neue Schule bits, which have been enjoying snowballing success with international riders, from top flight jumpers and eventers to some of the most esteemed dressage riders in the United States and Canada.  Metlar is also a distributor of Schumacher’s line of crystal-encrusted belts and bridles, as well as TailRx, Photonic Light Lasers, and the Kathy Connelly Chin Pad Collection.
